Ah, this fairing is nice and smooth. Tomorrow, I will adapt it to the rear of the seat better. After this is complete I’ll do the detail work on both fairings and make the molds.

Whoever invented Bondo is a genius. It is so easy to shape and work with. I’ve used about 10 gallons so far.

The tooling resin that I use is isophthalic. It is heat and warp resistant. After the detail work is done, I’ll apply a sandable gel-coat, loaded with talc. This will make wet sanding the patterns easy and will serve as an excellent molding surface under a few coats of glossy PVA.

2/15/09 The fairing now fits the back of the seat well. The bike pictured is a EZ-1. Eventually, the front fairing will have a mount designed to fit the EZ-1 as well. Imagine that, a quick, commuter EZ-1. I’ll have to put a 62 tooth chain ring on it just to be able to take advantage of its higher speed capabilities. The EZ-1 has a similar seat to the EZ-3. This fairing will fit other seats that have a tube frame design.

Brad holds the fairing against a Rans Stratus. In many of these photos, the fairing is a bit low on the seat due to the weight of the original sculpture. Sure, Brad is plenty strong, but he did a good job positioning the fairing for these study photos.

These 3 photos show the Aero’s fairing with the Sun EZ3 HD, the vehicle that the GoblinAero is based upon. The fairing actually mounts a little higher than pictured. In its correct postion, the fairing has plenty of clearance from the rear tires.

Pictured on the Sun Sport AX. The fit is awesome. This is a HOT bike with this fairing.

If the Sun T3 Tadpole tricycle had it’s seat in a more upright position, the fairing would have fit perfectly.

Pictured on the Sun X3, the fairing would have fit very well if the seat had been adjusted to a slightly more upright position.

I could have easily found a great fit on many Bacchetta, Rans, and other bikes in the store, but I didn’t want to get in the way of sales to customers that were in the store. Brad was great help today. He also helped me during the filming of a nationally broadcast show on TLC where I proposed to my fiancee, Kate.

On the left, pictured on the Greenspeed Anura delta trike. On the right, pictured on the Greenspeed GT3 tadpole tricycle. The GT3 had a rear fender over the wheel. Had it not been there, the fairing would have been an excellent fit.
