There is a vehicle that is being marketed by a competitor that is a human powered car, powered by four passengers. It is reputed to have gone downhill at speeds up to 80 mph and appears to be able to cruise around 35 mph on level ground. We like aspects of the design (our products are also designed by an industrial designer, Jeff Bales), but we find that there is a larger need for human powered vehicles designed to carry a single passenger. This mirrors the typical number of people in a car on today’s roads. In order for a human powered car to be powered by four people, it also means that those 4 people go to the same place! The GoblinAero is based upon a heavy duty, fully suspended frame with 3 wheels. This means that you will drive in comfort and will be able to stop more quickly with over-sized 8” dual disk brakes. Due to the highly stable 3-wheeled design, you won't have to put your feet down at stop lights. The seating position is like that of your most comfortable recliner at home... with your feet in front at a comfortable position. The upholstered seat has an adjustable seat back and can be adjusted forward or backward for almost any sized passenger. The GoblinAero is designed to comfortably seat riders up to 300 pounds. This is a heavy duty vehicle designed to perform for years.

If you don't have a driver's license (or have a suspended license... check with your local laws) you can legally and safely drive the GoblinAero as a motorized bicycle in most states. This typically requires no license, no registration, and no insurance. We always recommend insurance, even for riders of standard bicycles, but it may not be required in your state.

The moped version of the GoblinAero High MPG vehicle has a larger 50 cc 4-stroke engine (no oil mixing) that passes emissions in all 50 sates and is C.A.R.B. certified in California. The motorized bicycle version has a smaller 35 cc 4-stroke engine (no oil mixing) that also passes the same rigorous emissions standards.

The GoblinAero High MPG vehicle is designed to get around town in the 20-30 mph range. The motor mount has a unique design, allowing the motor to be geared for incredible power while riding.

Equipped with standard cycling pedals, they are not needed for full-time use. Most GoblinAero drivers pedal 5-6 revolutions when leaving a stop light to accelerate rapidly and extend the life of the clutch. You do not need to constantly start and turn off the engine... it continues to run on very small amounts of fuel until you arrive at your destination.

This vehicle is designed by industrial designer, Jeff Bales. He has been seen on national television shows including HGTV, '"The Big Idea" with Donny Deutsch, TLC, and various news programs. He is the founder of PoolRock.com, the world's leading manufacturer of simulated rock waterfalls for the gardening, home recreation, and swimming pool industries. Jeff is also the inventor of the CellCoach, a deterrent to cell phone use by teenage drivers. Jeff is a respected Commissioner on the City of Tucson's Small Business Commission, appointed by council-person Nina Trasoff, Ward VI. Ms. Trasoff actively promotes environmentally friendly activities in Tucson, Arizona.

Jeff participated as a designer and racer in the World Human Powered Speed Championships in 2003 and received the Best Sportsman award. He built a fully streamlined recumbent racing bicycle designed to compete with the world's fastest cyclists. The current world record using human power alone in a streamlined bicycle is held by Sam Whittingham. Sam has gone 81mph on a flat stretch of highway using no motor... just his legs! The same technology that goes into exotic streamlined racing bicycles is used to produce the GoblinAero high mpg vehicle.

Headlight, brake light, turn signals, mirrors, horn, and seat belt. The GoblinAero is highly visible in traffic and is about the same height as an ordinary compact car.

Claims of 150 mpg are based upon responsible use of the throttle and established mpg estimates based upon a normal bicyclist with no aerodynamic devices. Aerodynamic devices have been proven to greatly increase MPG. It is possible that your GoblinAero may only get 120 mpg, depending on driving conditions.
